Rev. Rul. 55-217

The provisions of Revenue Rulings 54-185, C.B. 1954-1, 304, and 54-352, C.B. 1954-2, 475, permitting the use of activated carbon at the rate of 7 ounces to 400 gallons of spirits as a filtering medium in the clarification of whisky to be bottled without rectification and to be bottled in bond, respectively, provided the original character or composition of the distilled spirits is not changed thereby, are hereby modified to include all classes and types of distilled spirits bottled in bond or bottled without rectification
